CONCEPTS & CONCEPTION
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I DON'T HAVE A BUSINESS, I JUST HAVE AN IDEA. IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?
Yes! If you are new to business, C&C provides you with powerful guidance for conceiving an intentional business that nourishes and supports you. We are here to guide and cheer you on as you take the first steps towards birthing your inspiration into a full-fledged business. Our approach is radically different from any other business school we know of. The Concepts portion of the class is grounded in feminist theory and feminine principles. Engaging these ideas at the beginning of your entrepreneurial journey gives you a huge leg-up on established entrepreneurs because you can avoid the frustrations and pitfalls of outdated masculine business models. The Conception materials will enhance your creativity and guide you in cultivating your business vision.
This is a foundations class where you will get really clear on the why of your business, without having to worry about the how, yet. In C&C we develop a solid root structure for your business, so that you can build a stable and sustainable enterprise that will support you, your clients, and itself for years to come.
I DON'T EVEN HAVE A SPECIFIC BUSINESS IDEA, I JUST HAVE A KNOWING THAT I WANT TO BE IN BUSINESS. IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?
If you are 80-100% sure that you are ready to run your own business within the next year, C&C is right for you, even if you don’t know what your business will be, exactly. Because C&C is about Conception, the course materials are specifically designed to enhance your creativity, develop your intuition, and cultivate your fertility. Our ongoing emphasis on integration and embodiment will guide you towards your pleasures which point you to your purpose (a.k.a. your business idea). We have an entire week devoted solely to the Conception process, giving you the opportunity to envision and conceive your to-be business. C&C is about business, yes, but it is also about LIFE. This class will give you tools you can use now to bring more meaning to your work and expand your critical consciousness while you nurture your business idea.
I'M ALREADY IN BUSINESS. THIS SOUNDS LIKE A BEGINNER'S CLASS. IS THIS COURSE GOING TO BE USEFUL TO ME?
If you are a solopreneur (you work with contractors but you have no employees), or in the first 3 years of running a company with employees and lost, stuck, or constantly plagued by money woes this course is for you. We will energize your vision and provide you a new entrepreneurial framework founded on pleasure, ease, integration, embodiment, and critical consciousness. If you are bored or burning out, C&C will revitalize your business by reconnecting you with your purpose, reminding you of your values and beliefs, and emboldening you to be more radical and playful in your business practices. If you are on the cusp of a big growth period or at a crossroads, our holistic approach will give you clarity of purpose and help you feel more grounded in your transition. If you haven't built your current business on feminine and feminist principles, you will begin to imagine what that would look like.
If you are are a seasoned business owner, running a healthy company with employees, and ready to pivot your core offer or deepen your business's social impact, Visions & Values will be a better fit for you. If you have been in business for years and want to collaborate on innovating new business models, please join us in the Feminine Economics Department AKA The Sisterhood.
I NEED HELP WITH BUDGETS, BOOKKEEPING, LEGAL STRUCTURE, PERSONNEL, INSURANCE AND OTHER TECHNICAL ASPECTS. IS THIS CLASS RIGHT FOR ME?
We will not address any of those matters in C&C. C&C provides you with valuable information that will inform all of those decisions when you get to them. Budgets, bookkeeping, legalities, operations and so on are all engineering tasks. First, you need a business blueprint. But before the blueprint, you need to know what it is you're going to build. In C&C you will get clear on what business you want to build and why. One you have established this foundation, your grounding, then you can build a stable structure upon it, and that is when the engineering/technical tasks come in. We all know that to build without a solid foundation is folly. In C&C we undertake the important work of laying the groundwork to support you and your business, without getting ahead of ourselves.
MY BUSINESS IS FLAILING AND I NEED CASH FLOW, LIKE, YESTERDAY. I AM LIVING IN POVERTY AND BARELY PAYING MY BILLS. IS THIS CLASS RIGHT FOR ME?
No. This class is not an emergency intervention. We do not address immediate cash flow solutions. We dive into money matters in Week 12, addressing your relationship to money and some very basic business finances, not quick fixes. However, if you are not in crisis but are chronically under-earning and are ready to invest in a long-term solution to increase your prosperity and fiscal sustainability, this class is for you. We will give you information and support to turn your unhealthy business into a healthy one.
HEY, I'M INTERESTED IN THIS CLASS BUT I'M A NORMAL HUMAN WITH SOME STUFF GOING ON (LIFE/WORK/FAMILY/YOGA/HOLIDAYS). WHAT DAYS/TIMES DOES THE CLASS HAPPEN?
Hey, we like to set our own hours too! C&C provides you the flexibility to schedule your coursework each week, according to your needs and wants. Every Monday night you will be delivered a new batch of materials on the weekly theme, so you can dive in on Tuesday morning (or whenever you want to). All the materials are housed in our online school which lives in Pathwright, so everything is in one tidy place.
You are invited to work at your own pace though it is suggested that you do the materials in the week they are delivered (by the following Tuesday), to get the most our of the course. We guide the class for twelve weeks—we read all your homework submissions, offer feedback on your journal entries, host the video classes, and moderate the online discussion threads. You have access to the online materials for 2 years but we no longer offer guidance or support after the 12-weeks.
There are four 75-minute video classes. These classes take place on zoom.us. These are the only live class sessions of the course. If you can't attend any/all, don't worry, we record the classes and post them online within 24 hours for you to view.
C&C Spring 2019 Video Classes
Week 3 — March 13th, 10am PST (Los Angeles time zone)
Week 6 — April 3rd, 2pm PST
Week 9 — April 24th, 10am PST
Week 12 — May 15th, 2pm PST
Weeks 4 & 8 are Integration Weeks, meaning, there is no new content. You can use those weeks to rest, digest, or catch up on homework.
WHAT KIND OF INVOLVEMENT/SUPPORT DOES SISTER PROVIDE?
We read all of your homework submissions, reply to the online discussion threads, respond to your weekly journal entries, and guide the live the video classes. In Week 1, you will submit journaling about the present and future of your business. We give you written, personalized feedback to this on how to get the most out of the course.
We do not take phone calls and we do not offer business advice via email. If you need help or want to engage more deeply with materials, we ask you to post your question online or pose it in a video class so that we can explore it together, as a group. If you’d like to work in-depth with particular issues concerning your business, one-one-one consulting sessions are available for purchase throughout the 12-week course.
I WANT TO SHARE THIS MATERIAL WITH MY (BUSINESS/LIFE) PARTNER. IS THAT OKAY?
All prices are per person, not per business (or partnership). If you have registered with the intention of working this curriculum with someone who is not enrolled, they will need to pay the full tuition amount in order to use these materials. Any student accounts that are shared or logged into by users other than the enrolled student will be terminated without refund. We offer a 10% discount for partners or teams who want to enroll together. Please email us for a coupon code.
I'M NOT AN ENTREPRENEUR, BUT I'M REALLY INTERESTED IN THESE IDEAS. CAN I JOIN YOU?
This course provides a valuable community for those engaged with the challenging work of entrepreneurship. It is intended for entrepreneurs, small business owners, self-employed individuals, and those with a business idea they want to make real. It is specifically designed for those who are ready to invest the time and resources to conceive an integrated and intentional business that supports them. C&C is not appropriate for intrapranuers or managers, those wanting to create a side-business/hobby enterprise, nor those with primarily an intellectual interest in the material (academics, press, writers, researchers). Thank you!
WHY DID THE PRICE OF C&C GO UP?
The increased price was determined by a number of factors. We have been teaching this class consistently since we launched it three years ago. We have listened closely to student input and made changes to improve the course each time we offered it. We are proud of the curriculum we have developed and believe it offers great value and tangible results for those who do the work.
We lengthened the course from 8 to 12 weeks and added two new weeks of content, which means significantly more teaching time on our end. We need to hire administrative help to support us in giving our students the best experience possible (and to decrease the stress and workload of teaching the course alone).
Additionally, we conducted cross-industry research and discovered that we were grossly underpriced in relationship to other online business schools, most of whom don’t offer direct access to their founders (we do). We were faced with the option of offering C&C as do-it-yourself course or increasing the price. We see great benefit in supporting our students directly and believe that the challenges of entrepreneurship demand personalized guidance, so we chose the latter.
Along with the increased price, we also now provide PDFs of the majority of the course materials, for you to keep and utilize for years to come. Further, we added an additional year of access to the online classroom, and increased our level of personalized support by providing weekly feedback to your online journals.
This course is intended to be an investment in yourself and your business—a start-up expense that supports the vitality and endurance of your new venture. C&C is designed for students who are ready for full-time entrepreneurship, not dabbling or side-hustling, and the price reflects that level of commitment. We understand the new pricing is prohibitive to some and therefore, we have implemented a sliding scale for tuition (see below) and expanded our payment plan options.

DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT PLANS?
Yes! If you enroll through our website, you are given the option to pay in-full or pay in 3, 6, or 12-month increments. If you choose an installment plan, you will pay an additional $50 with your first month’s tuition. For example, if you choose the 12-month option, you will pay $350 to register. We then charge a card on-file or draw from your bank account every 30 days for $300 for 11 subsequent months.
I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS.
Please email us and we will be happy to arrange a short phone call to help you determine if C&C is a good fit for your needs.
